PHP / MySQL Rockstar in Training Wanted (Manhattan Beach)

Looking for a future programming rockstar to grow with our company. We're a small search engine marketing firm based in Manhattan Beach. We're looking for some local talent for a 3 month trial for a 15-20 hour/week position. You have to be able to come down to Manhattan Beach for 1 day of work- min. 4 hours, once every two weeks. All other work can be done virtually. If all goes well during the trial you will be offered either a full time position with the possibly of revenue sharing or remaining at part-time with a pay raise.
This is a job for someone looking to make an impact not just collect a check. You need to be able to work quickly and have a desire to always want to learn more. If you have your own ideas or projects even better. We work for clients but also develop our own sites and are always open to exploring ideas.
Requirements:
* Ability to work 15-20 hours a week
* Ability to put in a bit of extra time when crises arise
* Can work independently with little direct supervision
* Maintain project timelines and meet all project deadlines
* Commute to Manhattan Beach for 1 day every two weeks for min. 4 hours of work, all other work time can be virtual
* Willingness to tackle unfamiliar problems and take the time to discover "best practice" solutions
Not Required:
* College degree - certainly nothing wrong with one but bottom line what matters is your knowledge not how you acquired it.
* 10+ years of experience (seriously, the Internet has been around for 13 years total, and some companies expect you to have 10 years of webdev experience? It just makes them look ridiculous.)
* Suits or ties
Qualifications:
* Advanced to expert level knowledge of PHP
* Strong knowledge of HTML, Ajax, MySQL, CSS & Javascript
* Strong knowledge of WordPress
* Demonstrated history of skill advancement & strong desire to learn
* Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
* Experience integrating API feeds into web sites
* Strong sense of usability & web design
Bonus Round (if you meet any or all of these, you're even more perfect than we imagined!):
* Familiarity with Smarty templating
* Experience/ability in writing complex regular expressions to scrape data
* Experience with Photoshop or comparable graphic design programs
* Apache/Linux server familiarity & maintainence (SysAdmin abilities)
* Facebook App and/or iPhone App experience
* Moderate to Advanced Flash skills
* Familiarity with RSS/XML standards
* Experience building web-based tools & applications
* Experience with widgets and social media tools, e.g. Twitter tools, social bookmarking submission tools
* Database design & optimization experience
